Christmas Tree Hunting

Posted by Bryce Wend on December 3, 2011

Well there are some advantages of having ALL of our Christmas stuff stored away in a POD while we look for our next home!  This year we had the opportunity to get a live tree instead of putting up our artificial tree.  I thought we should make an event of it since it won’t likely be an annual tradition for us.

We went up to Frosty’s Christmas Tree farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains with the family to find the perfect tree for our apartment.

I just love this photos because all though it looks totally posed, neither of these guys had a clue I was going to snap this shot up.  The were very serious in the hunt for the perfect tree.

This is it!

And once it was found, it had to be cut down of course!

And the whole gang at Frosty’s.

Happy holidays!

Christmas 2010

Posted by Bryce Wend on January 24, 2011

The Christmas season came and went in a flurry this year.

We started off meeting Santa Claus at Storytime with Santa night at the Campbell Community Center.  Mason did incredibly well and wasn’t the least bit scared.  It might have helped that Santa read a book to all the children before they got in line to climb upon his lap.

He told Santa that he wanted a dump truck and a motorcycle.  Santa advised Mason that he might be a little young for a motorcycle but he would see what he could do.

Then we had a Holiday Program for Mason’s preschool.  He and his preschool class of 2-3 year olds sang a couple of Christmas songs.  He was doing great at the beginning but something scared him and he started to cry before they could finish.  Uggh, just writing about it again makes my heart break.

But we  moved on to more fun holiday activities.  Like baking cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.

And opening up our matching Christmas Eve jammies.

We put cookies and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer.  The next morning they were all gone and Santa had left presents and filled the stockings.  Mason was excited to dive in.

He figured out Christmas a lot more this year.  Although it did take us a few hours to get through the presents, it seemed that every present he opened he wanted to play with.   We both really enjoyed watching him get excited about each one.

And of course Ryan got her share of goodies too!  Although she was still a little small to tear into the presents on her own.

He did end up with a motorcycle, although it didn’t come from Santa it came from Grandma and Grandpa in Washington.

Baby’s First Christmas!

Later that day we headed over to Brookdale to celebrate with the Leguillons.

Mason got more even more presents.  Gardening tools from Grammy and Popi!

It was great to see all the cousins.  It was a little hectic, but isn’t that what the holidays are all about?

Hope you had a cool yule!
