Gut Check Tuesday – Daily Gratitude
Posted by Bryce Wend on June 9, 2009
As I was running around the house this morning in a harried attempt to get out the door I noticed the book Simple Abundance on my bookshelf.
It has been over ten years since I originally read the book in its entirety, yet after several decluttering exercises it still remained on my bookshelf. In hindsight this book has made an impact on my life.
The author, Sarah Ban Breathnach suggests that you write in a daily Gratitude Journal as you read along in the book. This exercise proved to be an enlightening daily ‘gut check’ on what makes me happy and what is really important in life.
So in honor of this, my first Gut Check Tuesday post.
Today I am Grateful For:
- The financial ability to live in one of the most prosperous states in the most prosperous nation
- The health of my family
- My body’s ability to conceive and carry a child (no I am not pregnant again!)
- That we can afford a house cleaner
- My fellow countrymen and women that serve and protect my freedom
- That my wonderful husband is present in the raising of our son
- My job and the good opportunities it has brought me to grow and develop my character, particularly my integrity
- That the plain, fixer upper starter house that we bought five years ago has finally blossomed into a home
- My Cole Haan black patent leather peep toes. I may not wear them very often but they make me happy whenever I look at them
- Time spent with old friends and the ability to just pick up where we left off regardless of how long it has been
What are you most grateful for today?
